Thank You! |
The 2019 LWM has come and gone and what a weekend it was! The initial feedback has been great. The weather at times didn’t look favourable but it held off and made for a great weekend indeed.
This years event brought a number of things forward for our committee:
Now we begin the preparations for 2020, hope to see you all there!
This years event brought a number of things forward for our committee:
- Pride - for in the small calm moments we would take a look around at what our hard work and countless hours of preparation brought to our community.
- Inspiration - watching our group of amazing volunteers stepping up in so many ways and coming together to face any task or challenge presented to us all.
- Awe - seeing the flow of traffic both on ground and in the water and how the anglers followed our guidelines and instructions to combat the challenges presented with our location for parking, launching, and general logistics was truly awesome.
- Humility - learning that the best laid plans can still require some adjustments and that making quick decisions is something that will always have to happen year after year.
- Motivation - taking a close look at the support from our sponsors has truly motivated us to keep striving year after year to continuously grow and improve this event and also finding new and innovative ways to include and advertise the amazing people and organizations that back us. Also seeing the passion in our volunteers and vendors growing throughout the process has motivated us to seek their input and ideas as they at times have a different perspective than that of the committee.
- Happiness - watching the interaction between the anglers and also spectators before, throughout, and after the event brought a real feeling that could warm a soul.
- Amazement - the kindness and dedication of key people such as Chantal, our weight master, and Tylar, our all round go to girl for weigh ins who travelled an unthinkable distance to help. Joe Lafond and Don Skitch for diving into any and all tasks, Sheri Nygren and her team working day and night to keep everyone around hydrated and fed throughout the entire event. You all are in our opinion some of the best this world has to offer and we are amazed by you all.
- Dedication - it is no secret that building and hosting an event of this magnitude is not for the weak at heart. It can wear all of us down to the point you sometimes question why we do it all. BUT after all of the above is considered, it builds an unstoppable dedication to push harder and farther than ever before.
Now we begin the preparations for 2020, hope to see you all there!
